Oceanside Pier is located in Oceanside in Northern San Diego County. This 1,954 foot long wooden ocean pier is one of the longest piers on the west coast and a must-visit attraction if you are visiting San Diego. Located at 928 North Coast Highway in Oceanside, CA, The Oceanside Pier is a perfect place to take a leisurely stroll out over the Pacific Ocean and watch surfers, fisherman, and a diversity of sea life.

The Oceanside Pier is located about 40 miles north of Hotel Aqua Mar and is a great pit stop on the way to San Diego if you are traveling south on the Pacific Coast Highway or if you want to venture out of San Diego to sightsee. Oceanside pier has a storied history having originally been built in 1888 and then being destroyed by storms and rebuilt numerous times. The current pier dates back to 1987. The pier has been posthumously named after local National Football League great, Junior Seau.

You should definitely venture out to the pier to take amazing photos of the sunset. If you are an avid fisherman, the pier is a popular fishing spot. Ruby’s Diner, a 1950’s style diner is located at the end of the pier. If you are a surfer, Oceanside beach offers some of the best breakers north and south of the pier. An abundance of sea life can be viewed from the pier including jellies, sea lions, dolphins, stingrays and a variety of marine birds and fish. At the foot of the pier is a Junior Seau Pier Amphitheater, which hosts many special events throughout the year. This Beach Recreation Center is a 17,000 Sq. Oceanside Pier is open 24 hours a day. The Pier acts as a backdrop to many social events such as concerts, surf competitions and is walking distance to Farmer’s Markets and beaches. There are pre-pay parking spots at the base of the pier on the public city streets.
