About the Maritime Museum of San Diego
If you’re interested in learning about the history of retired sea vessels that used to roam the Pacific Ocean, then look no further than the Maritime Museum of San Diego. This museum is dedicated to preserving these vessels and their stories. In addition to this, the Maritime Museum also restores and maintains these ships, including the world’s oldest active ship, the Star of India.
The Maritime Museum hosts many events and activities throughout the year. The museum hosts a variety of boat tours, otherwise referred to as On the Water Adventures, as well as group tours of the area and public events. Some of these events include the Sea Chantey Festival and Pirate Days. The Sea Chantey Festival is a festival which will take place on August 6th, 2018 to commemorate the culture of sailors throughout time. This event will feature a series of performances honoring traditional folk museum aboard the Star of India. The Pirate Days event takes place over the weekend of May 19th and 20th and is a fun pirate themed celebrations for children of all ages. The Maritime Museum of San Diego is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day, and general admission fees for adults over the age of 18 are $18. General admission fees are $13 for senior citizens, military members, students with identification between the ages of 13 and 17 years old. General admission for children between the ages of 3 and 12 is $8.
